Movex Lager: The warehousing system for those of you who store other people's goods

Movex Lager is a warehousing and storage system for moving companies and logistics firms that store other people’s goods and charge a fee for doing so. Each customer has their own price list, and the system automatically calculates the invoice details: what the customer has in storage, for how long, and at what price. You don’t have to calculate the storage fees by hand, and everything registered in the warehouse is included on the invoice.

We developed the system in collaboration with the moving and logistics company Movator AB in Stockholm. It has been in daily operation there since December 2025, with thousands of Magboxes and EU pallets.

Goods that are in stock but do not appear on the invoice

Most businesses that stock inventory keep track of their inventory in spreadsheets, in binders, or in a system designed for something else. The accounting system sends out the invoices, but it doesn’t know what’s actually in stock. That link is made manually, every month.

It works as long as there are only a few customers. When there are hundreds of shippers and each customer has its own price list, it’s no longer possible to ensure that everything in inventory is also billed. Every line item you miss is a service you’ve already provided—without getting paid for it.

The principle: load carrier × time × price list

Movex Lager knows which pallets each customer has in stock, since what date, and at what price. This information is used to automatically generate the invoice data for all customers at once. That’s the whole idea, and the rest of the system is designed to ensure that the data is accurate.

Movex Lager It is not an e-commerce warehouse that picks and packs its own goods. It is designed for storage, where the goods belong to your customers, and what you’re selling is the time they spend in your facility.

Kalle Saajakari, CEO of Movator AB: "We've tested warehouse systems designed for e-commerce, and they don't fit our business. Movex is designed for the way we actually work—we store our customers' goods and charge them for it."

Here's how it works

Customers and Prices. Each warehouse customer has a customer card with their price list: one price per type of load carrier—such as an EU pallet or a magbox—or one price per cubic meter. One-time fees, such as unloading and delivery, are listed as separate items with their own prices. On the customer card, you also specify whether the warehouse rent is billed on an ongoing basis or in a lump sum when the goods leave the warehouse.

Inbound Shipment. The office or warehouse staff creates an inbound shipment entry with the customer, date, and goods. Related goods—such as those involved in an office move—can be tagged with a project. When the goods arrive, the warehouse worker logs them into their mobile device and assigns each item a location. You print the shipping labels directly from the system. The warehouse rental fee is calculated starting from the day of arrival.

In the warehouse. The warehouse overview shows everything currently in stock. You can search by item ID, customer, project, load carrier, or storage location; move items between locations; and view the complete history for each item: the initial delivery, transfers, and changes.

Shipment. When a customer is scheduled to receive their goods, you create a shipment, check off the goods, and the warehouse worker processes it. Goods that are already included in another shipment are not displayed, so the same goods cannot be included in two shipments. The warehouse rental fee is calculated up until the day the goods leave the warehouse.

Invoice Data. Click Generate, and Movex Lager will create invoice templates for all customers up to the date you select—for example, the last day of the month—including warehouse rent per load carrier and period, plus one-time fees. You review and transfer the data with the click of a button, and the invoices are generated in the accounting system. For customers billed upon delivery, the invoice templates are created automatically when the delivery is closed.

Integration with your accounting system. Movex Lager supports Fortnox, Visma Spiris, Business Central, and Opter. Customer data is retrieved from your accounting system, and invoice data is sent back, so nothing is entered twice. If you use a different system, we’ll set up the integration once you get started.

You set up the warehouse yourselves. You can create and modify aisles, sections, areas, load carrier types, fees, and prices on your own, without a consultant. The spaces are yours: name an area “Incoming” if that’s what you call it on the floor.

On your mobile device on the shop floor, on your computer in the office. Movex Lager is web-based and requires no installation. Warehouse workers, office staff, and administrators each have their own roles and see only what they need.

Who it's suitable for

Movex Lager This is ideal for those of you who charge a fee to store other people's goods and for whom the warehouse is a business in itself:

  • Moving companies with their own storage facilities: many customers, household goods and office equipment on pallets and in storage boxes, and customized pricing for each customer.

  • Logistics companies that store goods for corporate customers, often on a project basis, with daily deliveries and pickups.

  • Warehouse facilities and pure-play warehousing operations that bill by load carrier and period.

It’s not suitable for e-commerce warehouses—whether your own or those operated by a third-party logistics provider (3PL)—where the warehouse picks, packs, and ships goods at a fast pace. Nor is it suitable for unstaffed self-storage facilities. In short: if you’re selling your own goods, you need an e-commerce warehouse. If you’re storing other people’s goods and charging for that service, Movex Lager is built for you.

If you can quickly process warehouse invoicing manually, what you have today is often enough. If it takes time, or if you’re no longer sure that everything in the warehouse is being invoiced, that’s where Movex Lager comes in handy.

Frequently asked questions

Is Movex Lager a WMS?

Movex Lager It performs the same functions as a WMS during receiving, putaway, and picking. However, it is designed around warehousing and automatic invoicing of warehouse rent, not around picking and packing. That is why we call it a warehouse and storage system.

Which accounting systems is it compatible with?

Fortnox, Visma Spiris, Business Central, and Opter. If you use a different system, we'll set up the integration.

We're running Eureka Movex today. Should we move the storage to Movex Lager?

For most users, the inventory management features in Eureka Movex are sufficient, and they work just as before. Movex Lager is for those of you for whom inventory management is a business in itself. It’s a standalone system, not linked to Eureka Movex, so the items in your warehouse will be entered into Movex Lager once you get started. Eventually, Movex Lager will become the inventory management component of the new Movex. Read more in “New Movex: What We’re Building and What It Means for You.”

Do we need to install anything?

No. Movex Lager runs in your web browser, on your computer, and on your phone.
